New Principal Welcome

Dear Capital City School Families, Students, and Community,

As we prepare for a new school year, we are writing together to share an important transition at Capital City School.

After many rewarding years in education, I will be retiring from my role as principal. Serving the students, families, and staff of Capital City School has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I am deeply grateful for the trust, partnership, and commitment this community has shown in supporting our students’ growth and success.

One of the things that has always made Capital City special is the strong partnership between families, students, and staff. Together, we have created a learning environment where students are known, supported, and encouraged to achieve their individual goals. I know those values will continue to guide the school for years to come.

It is with great confidence that I welcome Mrs. Grace Sauser as the next principal of Capital City School. Throughout our transition together, I have come to know Grace as a thoughtful, collaborative leader who genuinely believes in the potential of every student. Her experience, passion for education, and commitment to building strong relationships make her an excellent choice to lead this wonderful school community.

As I step into this role, I want to thank Mrs. Kelly Dunkley for her dedicated service and for the care she has shown this community. I am honored to follow in her footsteps and grateful for the opportunity to continue the important work already taking place at Capital City School.

For more than 25 years, I have had the privilege of serving students, families, and educators in a variety of educational settings. Throughout my career, I have learned that meaningful relationships are the foundation of student success. Every child deserves to feel known, valued, challenged, and supported, and I believe our strongest schools are built through authentic partnerships between educators and families.

What drew me to Capital City School is its unique commitment to meeting students where they are and providing flexible, individualized pathways for learning. I know that families choose independent study for many different reasons, and I look forward to learning each student’s story while working together to help every learner thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

During my first year, one of my highest priorities will be listening and learning. I am excited to get to know our students, families, staff, and community partners, celebrate the many strengths of Capital City School, and work collaboratively to build on its success.

Together, we are committed to ensuring that every student experiences a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where they can reach their fullest potential.
